Franks carpets came up from riverside California back in 1970’s. Started a small remnant shop store on Main Street for 6 years. As business started to expand they moved to their location on 2260 Shasta way corner of south Sixth Street and have been there for 29 years. The building was built in 1946. It had many different types of businesses. When Franks moved to this building it had many experiences some people would even call them small miracles. The store survived the recession in the 1980’s. Jim and Debbie Rollins purchased our second store in Alturas California back in the early 1980’s and still own it. Frank and Diane’s oldest daughter Loretta left in 1980 to Arizona and became a CNA for the correction centers. The term miracle is used because the building had a painted cross on the wall in the storage room in back of the store, which for some reason or another after all the remodeling that went on over the years no one has ever painted over it. Their son Gary became employed at Franks carpets in 1979 and has been there ever since. Daughter Patricia became employed at Franks in the late 1980’s and also has been there every since. The store even has one of its original carpet installers Jack Hansen. A Rick well has been with Franks Carpets as an installer for the last 13 years. The down side of Franks Carpets has been the health issues. By surviving them up till now is where the small miracles come into place. First Patricia and her husband both got cancer within a year of each other. Jacks wife was involved in an auto accident with fatalities, which she was the only survivor. Frank the owner had cancer and many heart problems. A Rick well had a heart attack and was put in hospital while on a job. Finally, a few years ago Gary had gotten severely ill with many health issues, which caused him to be out of work for three months. Through these hard times the family has been very fortunate to have their employees and friends help keep the business moving smoothly.
February of 2008 the building had its first major snow disaster causing the roof to collapse during the busiest time of the day without injury to any of our customers or family. Thankfully, with the quick response from contractors that we have known over the years and have done lots of business with, they had our business up and running within a couple days.
All of this could not have been possible without the support of you our customers over all these years; we would personally like to thank you. Merry Christmas and May we all have many new years to come from the Frank’s Carpets family, employees and installers.
